Latin name: Alocasia spp.
Description: A striking tropical plant with highly decorative appeal. Colours and patterns vary greatly from one variety to another. A long-day plant, it performs at its best during the summer months. It requires warmth and good humidity to thrive and forms an underground corm. Do not worry if a few leaves get yellow—new growth will follow quickly.
Light: Medium
Watering: Keep the growing mix moist.
Tips & tricks: An ideal plant if you can provide supplemental lighting to extend day length beyond 12 hours.
Watch for: Monitor for two-spotted spider mites.
Available from March 1st to March 31st at participating garden centers and IGA stores.
